Taille maximale : poisson ne dépassant pas les 15 à 20 cm au maximum pour un poids rarement supérieur a 50 grammes.
Origine : Le goujon est présent dans presque toutes les eaux d'Europe jusqu'à l'Oural excepté dans la quasi totalité de la Scandinavie, en Italie (sauf au Nord), en Grêce, en Ecosse ou encore sur la péninsule Ibérique.
Zone de vie : Le goujon apprécie les eaux courantes, claires et bien oxygénées. Il aime les fonds sableux ou caillouteux peu profond ou il se tiens face au courant. on peut également le rencontrer dans des lacs non pollués alimentés par des eaux de montagne.
Température et ph : 10°- 18° le goujon et un poisson d'eau froide. Ph entre 7 et 7.5
Description : le goujon est un petit poisson allongé avec de fines écailles. il présente une nageoire caudale pointue et sa bouche est orientée vers le bas avec 2 petits barbillons pour fouiller le sol.Nutrition : le goujon se nourrit de gammares, de petits vers, petits mollusques, larves d'insectes et du zooplanctons présents dans le milieu.
Anatomie : corps allongé formé de fines écailles. nageoire caudale pointue. bouche vers le bas avec 2 petits barbillons.
Comportement : c'est un poisson grégaire, paisible et trés agile. les bancs de goujons peuvent parfois dépasser les 500 individus. (principalement en été sur les zones de courants ensoleillées et peu profondes).
Dimorphisme : en période de frai, le mâle présente des points sombres sur toutes la longueur du corps. en dehors de cette période, il est impossible de dissocier les mâles des femelles.
Reproduction : la reproduction du goujon a lieu entre mai et juin ou les femelles pondent en moyenne 1000 à 1500 oeufs au milieu des pierres et de la végétation dans les zones de courant.
