PostSubject: Sphaerichtys osphromenoides:   Sphaerichtys osphromenoides: EmptyMon Oct 26, 2009 12:18 am

Sphaerichtys osphromenoides .

Classify: actynopterggii.

Subclass: Neopterygii.

Order: perciforme.

Under order: Anabantoidei.

Family: osphromidae.

Subfamily: luciocephalinae.

Kind: Sphaerichthys.

Species: Sphaerichtys osphromenoide.

Descriptor: Canestrini, 1860.

Etymology: of the Greek: Sphara = Ichtys sphere = Sphaerichtys fish = fish with round body osphromenoides: “near to” omenus coming from the Greek “osphrenomist” = feel-to smell (reference to the labyrinth?).

Synonym (S) or common noun (S): osphromenus malayanus (badly), osphoromenus notatus, chocolate gourami (ang), gourami chocolate (FRA). Malaiischer Gurami (Al), Schokoladengurami (Al), sphaerichthys osphromenoide osphromenoide (old SCI) .sphaericthys osphronemoides (sci). Plane fish (Ang).

Origin: Malacca, Malayan peninsula, Sumatra, meadows of djambi, Borneo. Indonesia. (Ponds and major rivers.)

Zone of life: Of everywhere.

Maximum size: 5,5cm with 6cm.

Life expectancy : 3 to 4 years.

Temperature: 25° to 30°, but the ideal is to maintain it with 26°. PH: 6 to 7. Hardness : 2 to dGh.

Conductivity :

Description: The body is ovoid. The pointed head ends in a small mouth directed upwards. The eye, relatively large compared to the size of fish, is ringed of red, black and yellow.

Small fish pleasant to observe. It maroon dark is striped of beige (gilded sometimes a little). These stripes are three. First is located at the level of the head, the second on the body, and the third on the level of the delicate tail .specie, requires all the attention of the amateur with regard to water quality; peat extract; dense vegetation, a frequent replacement partial of water supports the lifespan; this species is very sensitive to the diseases (bacterial, parasitic infestation of the skin.) Its dorsal fins and anal are notched at the beginning. Like all the gouramis, it has two tactile fins. The colour chocolate can also vary according to its habitat. In an aquarium on the ground and the dark decorations, its dress is darker than in a clear vat, where its colour will be rather of a brown-beige.

Anatomy: Enigmatic “the gourami chocolate” is a delicate fish which impassions the amateurs of anabantidés. This fish makes party of Labyrinthidés which is called thus because of an additional respiratory body called labyrinth. Living in water very low in oxygen, they developed a respiratory body complementary to the gills enabling them to bleed the air at water surface.

Definition of labyrinth:

1. Additional respiratory body located above the cavity branchiate. That authorizes Labyrinthidés fish to use atmospheric Oxygen. Here is the diagram:

Sphaerichtys osphromenoides: Anemone-clown_1204626393_labyrinthe

Behaviour: Peaceful, timorous, it can be timid and secret, but as soon as it takes insurance with its medium and the other occupants, it can become very active. It is advised to maintain them by small groups or at least in couple at end to put them in confidence thus to reduce their timidities and their stresses. Hierarchical behaviour, within the group. Not to make cohabit with coarse species. Colouring varies according to moods. When he stresses her dress becomes very pale, mottled great zones of brown very dark. An irregular dress means that the fish is stressed and it will be necessary to find and solve the cause of its discomfort (very fragile reputation). At the time of the brawls, the attacker shows its intentions by opening all to its fins (in particular its tactile fins that it maintains usually closed.) attacked fish will also open to them his, but will swim with move back before fleeing precipitately and while becoming pale as described in top. He likes piper surfaces some; a plant of surface will be thus the welcome to bring a haven of peace lasting to him this moment. However, at the time of the parades in love the male dominating can become territorial and rather aggressive towards its congener. When the light is very intense, the fish are more irritable. Oldest tend to dominate young people. With the lunch, it yaw certain food that causes more conflicts than others do.

Nutrition: Carnivore, food alive and frozen (Larvae of red and black mosquitos, artémias) food in flakes possibly with freeze-dried elements (?) answer of those that maintains of it to correct if it is needed)). They can make the difficult ones. Even at the adulthood they can eat very well that nauplies of artémias.

Food of the larvae: They should be nourished with infusorians and then to nourish them with nauplies of artémias.

Dimorphism: Not very obvious, at certain stocks, only the males has rays of caudal fins red whereas at others both have some, whereas for a third none of the two sexes has some… The female however has a rounder dorsal fin and that of the male at a peak. However, it is difficult to judge with certainty. Often the female seen of face presents a broader throat, but it may be that this is noticed only in females having already incubated.

The caudal fin of the male is stained of yellow. The colour of this fish is maroon dark and becomes maroon chocolate when it is in full form. They have three large white lines. The first line is placed on the level of the head, the second on the level of the body and the third on the level of the tail. Sexual differentiation is rather complicated, because it ya “effeminate” Males and the females “masculinized”. Además, tanto el macho Como will hembra it incubi los heaves (aunque generalmente lo hace will hem bra it). Moreover, both incubate eggs. The females are more robust than the males. (To be seen with those who maintain some.)

Reproduction: incubator oral and/or laying on the ground, not very prolific, only 20 to 40 young people clears on the ground, the female takes eggs in its mouth where it keeps them in incubation during approximately 14 days. The reproduction requires experiment in the aquarist. The laying counts 20 to 40 young people. The eggs fall on the ground and the female will seek them in order to keep them in its mouth during approximately two weeks.

Bond of the Forum on the reproduction of fish:

Difficulty: for tested.

The Council for the aquariophilie: A species whose reproduction calls upon the knowledge of the specialized amateur. Not to mix them with aggressive fish and too stirring up.

Volume minimal of the aquarium: 30L for a couple. 45*25*25 for 10 fish. Small groups can live in a small well-planted and slightly enlightened vat, or with species of small size liking acid water.

Population density: 1 couple or a group.

List occupants of the aquarium: Can go with this fish: The trichopsis pumila. The colisa chuna. The sphaerychtis vaillanti. The bearded ones: puntius titeya. Espei will rasbora.

Other species which offer the same advantages:

The Council for the fisherman:

Various: Plants recommended: The aquarium must be well planted, Crytptocoryne, as well as foam or of Microsorum Pteropus, floating plants like Pistia Limnobium laevigatum or stratoides are advised.

Information: The cards of the fish may be by supplementing an experiment of the subject, or a comment misses concerning information on this card.

Sphaerichtys osphromenoides .

Classe : actynopterggii.

Sous-classe : Neopterygii.
Ordre : perciforme.
Sous ordre :Anabantoidei.
Famille : osphromidae.
Sous-famille : luciocephalinae.
Genre: Sphaerichthys.
Espèce: Sphaerichtys osphromenoide.

Descripteur : Canestrini, 1860.

Malaiischer Gurami (all), Schokoladengurami (all), sphaerichthys osphromenoide osphromenoide (ancien SCI).sphaericthys osphronemoides (sci). Plane fish(Ang).

Description :Le corps est ovoïde.
