Origin: Southeast Asia: Borneo, Burma (Myanmar), Java, Malaysia, Sumatra, Thailand, Vietnam Southeast Asia: Burma, Laos, Indonesia, Kampuchea, India; Known basins of Chao Phraya and Mekong. Occurs in the fast and clear jets with the arenaceous or stony bottom; also found in large rivers. Burrows in the content enters the flooded fields (the ref. found in the basin-broad principal current of lower Mekong.

Description: The body is lengthened and slightly compressed laterally. It has a long caudal stalk. The dress is mainly beige or ocher, and the white belly.

Behavior: Gregarious. Sociable. Acanthopsis is a peaceful basic fish which swallows sand and the recrache after having drawn its food from it. He asks gravel preferably fine and some masks. This fish can be put without any problem with any species.

Origine : Southeast Asia : Bornéo, Burma (Myanmar), Java, Malaysia, Sumatra, Thaïlande, Vietnam Asie du Sud-est : la Birmanie, Laos, Indonésie, Cambodge, Inde ; Connu des bassins de Chao Phraya et de Mékong. Se produit dans les jets rapides et clairs avec le fond arénacé ou caillouteux ; également trouvé dans de grands fleuves. Burrows dans le fond entre dans les champs inondés (la réf. a trouvé dans le courant principal bassin-large du Mékong inférieur.

Description : Le corps est allongé et légèrement comprimé latéralement. Il possède un long pédoncule caudal. La robe est principalement beige ou ocre, et le ventre blanc.

Anatomie :

Comportement : Grégaire . Sociable. L'Acanthopsis est un poisson de fond paisible qui avale le sable et le recrache après en avoir tiré sa nourriture. Il demande du gravier de préférence fin et quelques caches. Ce poisson peut être mis sans aucun problème avec n'importe quelle espèce.

Nutrition : Omnivore. L'Acanthospis se nourrit de tout (vers, artemias, comprimés (TetraTips), flocons, etc...)

Nourriture des larves :

Dimorphisme : La femelle plus grande et plus massive .

Reproduction : Pas encore réussie en aquarium.

Conseil pour l'aquariophilie : Ne vous inquiétez pas si il disparaît car dans un bac lui convenant (gravier fin) une fois acclimaté parfaitement ce poisson s'enfonce dans le sable et ressort de temps en temps... C'est un poisson intéressant mais qui possède un grand inconvénient, celui de déraciner les plantes lors de ses escapades souterraines dans le gravier...

Volume minimale de l'aquarium et conseillé : 50 litres minimum, avec du gravier fin et quelques caches. Pas de plantes nécessaires spécifiquement. Prévoir un sol constitué de sable ou de gravier de faible granulométrie (1-2mm) pour que ce poisson puisse s'enterrer. Les plantes devront être bien enracinées ou alors fixées sur des pierres ou des racines.

Densité de population : un petit groupe.

Divers : Particularités : Lorsqu'il est effrayé, il peut "nager" sous le sable meuble. Lorsqu'il ressort, il ne laisse apparaître à la surface que ses yeux.
