Male :105 cm, Female : 90 cm

Place of Origin:
South America (Venezuela, Peru & Colombia)On the Pantanal ecoregion except the pond of San Francisco's river, Suriname, Guyana, Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru & Venezuela.

In Colombia

It
was discovered on the rivers from Magdalena to Neiva, but it doesn't exist on the lower part of Magdalena where the Canal del Dique because water in that region is not totally fresh.

It was found also on
San Jorge and Cauca on the rivers of Metica, Meta, Manacacías, Caquetá, Apaporis, l'Amazone, l'Orénoque, Putumayo, Caucayá, Guayabero and Guaviare.

Food and Nutrition:

Origine : Amérique du Sud (Vénézuela et Pérou, Colombie)

Bassin de la plata sauf le bassin de la rivière de San Francisco, Surinam, la Guyane anglaise, l'Argentine, la Bolivie, le Brésil, l'Équateur, Guyane française, le Pérou, Surinam et le Vénézuéla

En Colombie

Il a étais découvert dans les riviéres de la régions de Magdalena jusqu'à Neiva , mais pas de présence dans la basse partie de Magdalena ou se situe le Canal del Dique, car les eaux ne sont pas complètement douces.

aussi découvert a San Jorge et Cauca; les rivières Metica, Meta, Manacacías, Caquetá, Apaporis, l'Amazone, l'Orénoque, Putumayo, Caucayá, Guayabero et Guaviare.

Description : Corps de couleur blanche est très allongé, la tête est beige et grande, les yeux haut et il à trois paires de barbillons.

et le dos foncé avec une série de bandes noires verticales intercalées, de conception variable qui arrivent jusqu'à sa ligne latérale et forme des points ou des taches dans la même couleur que les bandes ainsi que son Aileron dorsal et anal et parsementé de petites taches.


Nutrition : Ils sont principalement des prédateurs de characins Mylossoma sp.,Potamorhina sp, Prochilodus sp, Boulengerella sp, Pimelodus sp, Aequidens sp, Hoplias sp, lombric et amphibiens (grenouilles), des araignées, des graines de Astrocarium vulgare et de Mauritia flexuosa et des pousses végétales de la Famille Flacourticaceae (Ryania sp.)
Nourriture des larves :

Anatomie :

Comportement : C'est un chasseur nocturne (crépusculaires nocturnes ou matinal) qui a un caractère relativement sociable mais faut bien le nourri. Il est extrêmement vorace.

Ils chassent ses proies dans les mares et près du bords des plages, où s'abrite les petits poissons. Ses barbillones sont bien développés ils s'en serre comme détecteurs afin de repérer ses proies dans une atmosphère pratiquement sans lumière.

Reproduction : Ovipare, 1.500.000 d'oeufs Il se reproduit principalement entre novembre et janvier, il se reproduit pendant les grandes migrations ou il remonte en haut des rivières à la recherche de lieux de reproduction. La première maturation sexuelle est donnée aux environ 45 cm de longueur, il est considérée comme une espèce hermafrodite , ou tous les jeunes naissent comme femelles, dont une partie évolura en mâle.
