Ama mangpang, Sumpit, Ataba, Anunuput, Bang-ga (Filipino); Archer fish, rifle-fish North (Australia); Archerfish (islands of Solomon, Indonesia); Kaulau, Puhuduki (islands of Solomon); Sumpit-sumpit (Malaysia); Arquero ensillado (esp); Sueaphonnam (Thailand).

Origin: Very widespread in the mangroves and the shores of the peaceful one; North of Australia and Malaisie.Thailande; Burma; Philippines; Islands of Solomon; Vanuatu; Guinea news; Indonesia; Myanmar, Micronesia; French Polynesia.

Zone of life : intermediary & inferior. Water software; brackish.

Maximum size : 15 cm out of aquarium and 30 cm in a wild state.

Weight:

Life expectancy: from 1 to 2 years.

Temperature: 25° to 30° PH: 7,0 to 8,5. Hardness : 18° to 30°dGh. Density: 1010 young person with 1018 adult.

Conductivity:

Description : No the difference between male and female. Body very lengthened and flattened laterally with a ventral profile in the shape of skittle; the mouth very full is directed upwards, fleshy lower lip. The eyes large and are placed near the mouth getting a good binocular vision to him. The dorsal fins and anal are rather well developed with the round posterior lobe. The young people are green yellowish with 4-6 black bands on the sides and the belly is silver-plated. Adult, delivered is silver-plated and brilliant on the belly while the back takes a colour brown dark, the bands are reduced to round black tasks. The anal fins, dorsal and caudal are hemmed of black, the others are transparency. This fish with faculty to correct the refraction of water to reach its target out of the aquatic environment.

Anatomy:

Behaviour: If the young people live in benches, the adults become territorial from where surging intraspecific relations when the volume of the vat is insufficient. A specific aquarium (the ideal being a paludarium imitating the biotope of a mangrove), of a minimum of 400 L is necessary for 5 of the same individuals cuts. The interspecific relations are good. The young individuals live out of water brackish very slightly but salinity must be increased with the fur with measurement of their growth. The adults can live out of practically pure seawater (1018 of density), in captivity they support a water advantageously slightly saunâtre (salinity of 5 à20 mille*) what allows the culture of certain plants. The Pacific and peaceful in-group. The cohabitation with Scatophagus argus or Monodactylus argenteus is possible even if the fish-archer prefer a water - brewed that the latter; however once adult Toxotes and Monodactylus will be able to live in a water brackish with average salinity whereas Scatophagus prefer a water more salted definitely. This fish with the characteristic to capture flying preys while striking them. Indeed, it positions at water surface under its prey and him sending a powerful jet of water in order to strike it, which it falls into water and which it can eat it (what justifies its common noun “fish archer”). It is a phenomenon interesting to look at. However, the Archer fish requires certain conditions of maintenance: water must be slightly salted, you must make your aquarium a aquaterrarium (i.e. a ground part to accommodate the worms acting as alive food and a water part to accommodate your fish). Filtration should not be powerful. Your decoration must be composed of some rocks and root and only of the plants able to resist water brackish such as Vallisneria. This species likes to live in-group and can cohabit with fish of brackish water calm such as Scato.

Nutrition : Carnivore: Alive preys such as the flies and midges, grasshoppers. This fish eats frozen foods traditional worms of vase, artémia discus food without spinach. In your aquarium: in terms of food, offer their insects as a practitioner three methods: the first, to throw the preys with water, the second, to introduce the flying preys into the vat by closing again well the lid, the last, by buying a box of maggots by letting them thread in the ground part of aqua terrarium. This fish accepts however food in flakes or granulated.

Food of the larvae:

Dimorphism: not-exist

Reproduction: Laying was already observed in oceanographically centres “ecological Aquarium of Trouville” but no reproduction was announced by private individuals. The eggs are planktonique and the parents do not seem to eat them.

Bond of the Forum on the reproduction of fish:

Difficulty: Level 3.

The Council for the aquariophilie: It is necessary to recreate the living conditions in the mangroves: water brackish or salted. 5 to 20 G of sodium chloride /litre of water. Water change every 15 days knowing that water must be brackish, is 3,5 spoons with salt coffee for 10 water L.

Volume minimal of the aquarium and advised: 500 L.

Population density: 6 individuals.

The Council for the angler:

Various: The young individuals live out of water very slightly brackish but salinity must be increased progressively by their growth. The adults can live out of practically pure seawater.

Information: The cards of the fish may be by supplementing an experiment of the subject, or a comment misses concerning information on this card.

Toxotes jaculatrix.

Toxotes jaculatrix: Pict0110

Classe :Actynopterggii .

Sous-classe :Néoopterygii .

Ordre :Perciformes.

Sous ordre :Percoidei .

Famille :Toxotidae .

Sous-famille :Toxotidés .

Genre:Toxotes .

Espèce: Jaculatrix .

Etymologie:
Descripteur: Pallas , 1767 .

Synonyme(s)ou nom commun(s): Toxotes jaculator(sci) ;Toxotes jaculatrix(sci) ;Sciaena jaculatrix(sci) ;Banded archerfish(ang),(Inde),(micronésie) ;Poisson archer(fra) ;Ikan Sumpit(malay),(ang) ;Siamese Archerfish(ang) ;Schützenfisch(all) ; Ananabing.
